TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. To conduct out-reach activities in the PWID community by providing current accurate health information, mobilisation of PWID’s to access health services, and linkage to care services.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 10
- Accredited or recognised counselling certificate
- Minimum 1 – 3 years’ work experience in the PWID industry or experience as a peer educator
- Fluent in English and any South African languages
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mobilisation
- Follow-up and referral
- Health education
- Build and maintain relations
- Record management
- Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting
Skills and Competencies:
- Report-writing skills
- Good communication skills
- Non-judgmental, trustworthy and empathetic personality
- Good interpersonal skills, including being a team player
- Demonstrate strong professional attitude and behaviour at all times
- Ability to work non-traditional hours which may include weekends from time to time
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Average level of numeracy with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders
- Good problem-solving ability
