Purpose of the Job:
To provide a service to Samancor Chrome through auditing, evaluation, verification, advising and support of the group’s existing Quality Management and Assurance Systems.
Balanced Scorecard Pillars, Roles and Responsibilities:
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
- On an integrated approach, through inclusion of stakeholders and clients, physically and remotely evaluate and report on Quality Management (QM) and Quality Assurance (QA) compliance within the Group through effective use of the SHEQ Systems (Integrated Management System (IMS), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Utilise the SHEQ Systems to initiate, record, investigate, analyse and report on the Group’s QM&QA status
- Identify opportunities for standardisation by evaluating status of the Group’s SHEQ Integrated Systems against international standards (ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015, ISO 17025:2017 and ISO 45001:2017)
PEOPLE
- Guide / train site personnel on identified training and process needs
CUSTOMERS
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction and build working relationship with sites (clients)
BUSINESS PROCESSES
- Conduct Laboratory Processes and Activity Audits
- Conduct Final Product handling Audits.
- Participate in QA and QM Internal audits (based on the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 Standard)
- Participate in audits as directed
- Attend and participate (facilitate when needed) QM and QA related incident investigations
- Follow up on incident loss prevention strategies and evaluate efficiency thereof and advise on actual intent of initiatives
- Participate in Group Quality Forums
- Identify, share and assist with best practice implementation and lessons learned strategies
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
- Investigate opportunities to minimise/utilise waste (Reduce/Reuse/Recycle)
- Monitor Production, Raw Materials and Finished Product Quality trends and identify opportunities for improvements
- Provide assistance in implementing and assuring quality requirements are met on QM and QA improvement initiatives
- Improve Quality Awareness throughout the Group
- Standardise work processes throughout the Group Laboratories
- Identify training needs of personnel within the Group laboratories and provide training materials to close the gap.
- Effectively mentor candidates to enable transfer of knowledge within Samancor Chrome laboratories
- Assist in projects related to Quality such as Sampling standardization and new laboratory equipment commissioning and validations
- Evaluate statistically the effectiveness of equipment analysis performance
- Evaluate Round Robin performances of the laboratories

- Manage continuous improvement through Operational Excellence, align with and bring about compliance to recognised best practices, standards, rules and internal policies and thereby bring about alignment to our objective to achieve Zero Harm.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Analytical Chemistry / BSc Degree in Chemistry
Additional Qualifications:
- Statistical background such as Quality Management could be an advantage

- Demonstrate an understanding of the location and type of Samancor Cr Mineral Resources in terms of dealing with Laboratory activities and final products
- Demonstrate full knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001:2015
- Demonstrate full knowledge and understanding of ISO 17025:2017
- Demonstrate technical knowledge on XRF spectrophotometry, ICP-OES operation, Potentiometers, LECO equipment operation and methodologies,
- Demonstrate full knowledge and understanding of Sampling and sample preparation methodologies and practices
