The Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone SOC Ltd (RBIDZ) is a purpose-built and secure industrial estate on the North-Eastern South African coast.
Requirements
Applicants applying for RBIDZ: Health and Safety Internship must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- Unemployed, no relevant workplace experience needed.
- Must be between ages of 20 and 35.
- Must not have done any internship before
Qualifications (Education)
- Grade 12
- Certificate SAMTRAC or similar,
- OSH Legislation, and Incident Investigation
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management / Science or similar
Specification
The successful candidate will be provided with relevant workplace skills and experience in order to prepare for the job market. The development and training areas will include, but not limited to the below:
- Workplace health and safety management Perform H&S management in the workplace, by:
- Identifying physical exposures / hazards.
- Develop, implement and maintain H&S policies, procedures, specification and manual.
- Put controls in place to eliminate and minimize H&S exposures and risks.
- Research, investigate and draft H&S reports and proposals for Management consideration.
- Provide H&S advice and support to management and staff.
- Conducting employee, contractor and supplier information sharing sessions.
- Providing input during the planning of infrastructural development processes.
- Provide support and advice to existing and prospective tenants.
- Liaise with H&S internal and external stakeholders with regard to H&S requirements for project approvals.
- Record and manage all incidents (which includes investigation and reporting to relevant internal and external stakeholders).
- Monitor, analyse and report H&S performance indicators to internal and external regulatory bodies.
- Schedule and co-ordinate fire and emergency response drills and record actions raised as well as follow-up actions.
- Manage contractor health and safety Manage contractors’ health and safety, by:
- Review and approve Contractor Safety Files.
- Facilitating and reviewing risk assessments.
- Ensure health and safety legal compliance Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, by:
- Develop a SHE legal register with relevant legislation, i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act
- Relevant OHSA regulations (e.g. General Administrative Regulation, General Safety Regulations).
- Conduct compliance evaluations.
- Plan and implement corrective and preventative actions (e.g. SHE Committees, legal appointments, and emergency management).
