Applications are invited for an internship from suitable candidates who have completed a National Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent qualification.
Duties:
1. Maintain accessible technology with current equipped hardware and software under supervision
To ensure maintenance of accessible technology hardware and software
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system.
- Disseminate with all hardware, software and network operating system
- Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
- Provide individual training and support on request.
- Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources.
2. Monitor the effective use of technological services under supervision
In order to improve productivity:
- Troubleshoot all technology issues
- Maintain log and /or list of required repairs and maintenance.
- Research current and potential resources and services
- Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources
- Provide network access to all staff and other stakeholders
- Install network cables
- Connect and set up hardware
- Load all required software
- Provide network accounts and password
- Monitor security of all technology
- Install and maintain proof and passwords
- Input and maintain IP address
- Advise staff of security breach and /or change in password or security status
- Monitor installation of lock out programs
- Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
- Monitor hardware is stripped and secured before disposal.
3. Facilitate helpdesk services.
To ensure effective help desk services:
- Conduct quality technical support service to clients.
- Provide support in windows-based software systems with a networking component.
- Provide technical support on answering telephone, communicating with clients, diagnosing hardware and software malfunctions, troubleshooting problems, replacing hardware and installing new software on clients’ machines.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualification: National Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Preferred Qualification: B Degree in Information Technology or equivalent qualification
Skills and knowledge:
- Interpersonal skills
- Programming skills to develop minor programmes
- Problem solving ability
- Accuracy
