Purpose of the Job:
To be the continuous improvement driver of the Metallurgical process through reporting on and analysing production performance, making recommendations and implementing projects in a safe manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
- Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
- Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.).
- Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox).
- Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.
CUSTOMERS
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction as specified
BUSINESS PROCESSES
Process Data:
- Analyse and Interpret Process Data
- Implement, analyse and monitor process changes
Process Reliability:
- Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings
Process Tests:
- Conduct and Report on Process tests
Continuous Improvement:
- Achieve Continuous Improvement cost saving initiatives
Project Management:
- Manage improvement projects
SOP’S and WI’s:
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
Process Training:
- Conduct Process Training
Reporting:
- Report Metallurgical Measures

Qualifications:
- BEng or BSc (Eng) in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
- Undergraduate or post-graduate module in refractory materials desirable

To identify and implement various Environmental initiatives which will assist Samancor Chrome to achieve its objective of sustainable production.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct internal Environmental Audits and monitor and report closure on Audit findings.
- Report on the Performance of Corporate Environmental Management Systems and make recommendations on findings.
- Assist in the investigation of Environmental Significant Incidents.
- Facilitate the identification and assessment of Environmental Aspects and update the aspects and impacts register.
- Compile Environmental statistics and information.
- Ensure that new legislation is communicated.
- Assist with group contracts development.
