Ga-Maphopha Talane – Some parts of South Africa has seen a huge rise in coronavirus disease 2019 and people are calling upon government to intervene as the mere way of curbing further infections by reintroducing level 3 lockdown stricter regulations.
South Africans were happy when the government decided to move to lockdown level 1, myriads became reckless as they lived like nothing is happening, literally they killed covid-19.
The holiday season celebrated in SA attracted covid-19 rise as we have seen a major rise in metropolitan cities like Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Durban as people filled the beach enjoying themselves, more like celebrating the containment of the virus.
PE resident told SABC News that the government must reintroduce stricter rules as they’re no longer safe, taverns are filled as if nothing there’s no virus to care for themselves as the way of not catching covid-19.
The Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize met with local business and political leaders to discuss the reintroduction of level 3 on Friday, the 27th of November in Port Elizabeth.
Dr Mkhize told the media that no decision has been made regarding the reintroducing level 3. According to BusinessTech, a senior official told the Sunday Times that the stakeholders gave their consent to move to level 3. Mkhize’s initial aim was to move to level 4 but the local business owners and political leaders asked him to move to level instead.
