Sandton City evacuated following a ‘telephonic bomb threat’

Ngwaabe – Sandton City evacuated because of a bomb threat that reached the city telephonically.

People were seen fleeing the city to avert possible harm that might emanate from the “bomb threat.

The bomb threat was received on “Saturday, the 24th of April 2021 at 17h35,” the Sandton City confirmed the existence of the threat thereof.

News24 reported that the police together with the city and emergency services, are taking a closer look at the mall to ensure that precautionary measures would be applied if the bomb explode.

“Sandton City, together with the South African Police Service and emergency services, continue to monitor the situation closely, and all necessary precautions shall be adhered to.”

Videos made trends on social media exhibiting people swiftly evacuating the city for their safety.

The following video shows congestion outside the city caused by the “telephonic bomb threat, whilst others are driving off the mall.

Thus far, the motive behind the bomb threat that was telephonically received by the city is not known and no fatality whatsoever were reported.
