Johannesburg – One South Africa Movement Leader Mmusi Maimane says it’s time for cabinet to reshuffle, pointing out that Angie Motshekga must stepdown as the Department of Basic Education Minister.
This follows speech made by Motshekga when delivering a speech at the Prospectus High School in Tshwane, on the first of school reopening day.
“This government has prioritised education because it knows that it is only through education that it will deal with some challenges that are here. Because an educated man can’t rape akere,” Motshekga said, she went ahead by posing the question “or do they?” to pupils.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Deputy President Floyd Shivambu joined the club rediculing Motshekga’s rape utterances.
He says “the Minister of Basic Education is committed to making foolish statements and mistakes. She must be kept very far from SA’s education system.”
Shivamvu it is important for a person to learn to shut if they have nothing important to say, he says “Angie Motshekga must honestly shut up,” since she has naught to say and there’s no problem in remaining as such.
Democratic Alliance (DA) says Motshekga’s comments are uncalled for and misleading.
“These comments are utterly inappropriate and careless as the pervasive crisis of rape knows no boundaries,” said DA.
DA uurges Motshekga to apologise for making such comments, it is said that some learners there rectified her, which showed bravery of those learners.
