South African Finance Minister Mboweni hit Democratic Alliance (DA) with the famous saying “they are tjatjarag” uttered by the then African National Congress Youth Leader (ANCYL), Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader Julius Malema.

Mboweni said DA members are “tjatjarag” and he will tell Chief in Command (CIC) Malema to “deal with them”

Malema made his “you are tjatjarag” statement he was talking to a white journalist John Fisher during a press at Lethuli House in 2010.

Mboweni accused DA of divaricating misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine. DA made a statement that criticised the minister and the government failing to pay the deposit towards the purchase of COVAX vaccine.

He called DA members “chaps” and “loud mouths” as he tweeted saying he told them to think before speaking, and shun from talking about things they know naught of. That’s when he emerged infuriated and called upon Malema to “deal with them.” he added that, government is on track with the vaccine consortium, and they don’t need DA’s nonsense.

DA members didn’t take the tweet well as two MPs thereof, Ghaleb Cachalia and Geordin HHill-Lewis retaliated, they harshly replied Mboweni’s tweet.

Cachalia asked someone who deal with those calling out or pointing ANC’s failures, “stormtroopers” – the fictional soldiers in the Star Wars series.

Hill-Lewis said Mboweni must cease flirting with Malema and get back to work as he’s been absence too an extend of missing COVAX’s deadline.

Twitter fan, David Sedgwick highlighted how serious the minister must take this as people’s lives are involved, calling Mboweni childish and immature. “he should resign and take up a Silwood cooking course,” saying his conduct isn’t helping the country.

Mboweni’s tweet is on fire, he’s called names.
