Horrible bakkie crash in Limpopo claims six learners’ lives

Horrible bakkie crash in Malamulele in Limpopo took the lives of six learners.

The pupils were on their way home from school as they asked the bakkie driver to give them a lift, little did they know something horrible would happen.

Of the pupils involved in the tragic bakkie crash, six lost their lives whilst the other six sustained serious injuries.

The deceased learners, five were males and one female from Jim Chavani High School at Xikundu.

Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety Media Liaison Officer, Mike Maringa, the crash occurred at Ximixoni village at Malamulele in the Vhembe district

“It is believed that a driver of a Toyota bakkie was driving at a high speed, lost control and hit a house. Six passengers, who were identified as learners who had hitch-hiked from school, were killed instantly. The deceased are five males and one female,” Maringa explained.

The accident follows reckless driving of the bakkie driver who hit a wall and house.

SABC News reports that the Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Mavhunge Lerule-Ramakhanya send the department’s heartfelt condolences to the clans of the deceased for such a humongous bereavement.

“Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Mme Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has sent messages of condolences to the victims of the accident that happened this afternoon at Ximixoni, near Malamulele, whereby six learners were killed in a car that they had hitch-hiked from school. The MEC is making a plea to all motorists to drive follow the rules of the roads and drive within the prescribed speed limits.”

The issue of horrible bakkie crash seem to be a major problem befallen South Africa.

Last week in Xhorha in the Eastern Cape, five people lost their lives due to reckless and negligent driving, and nine sustained serious injuries.
