Babies in Limpopo miss vaccines due to shortages, parents are of major concern

Burgersfort – According to News24, parents in Limpopo are concerned about their babies’ missing the vaccines due to shortages in the province.
It is reported that some babies have not received even a single dose of vaccine since their birth, Mothers say they went to various clinics and hospitals with the hope of having their babies vaccinated for the prevention and protection from diseases such TB and polio, though they went back home without the vaccination.
The Limpopo Department of Health MEC Dr Phophi says they procured sufficient vaccines for the children which will sustain them for the next two months.
The MEC said the vaccines will be distributed to all health facilities during the weekend for use on Monday.
“We have enough stock now that is going to cover us until the end of the financial year, which is March, meaning we will start ordering around March for the stock that will assist us in the first quarter of the 2021-2022 financial year. As it is now, in the next three monthd, there won’t be a child going to the clinic and not to get vaccinated. We have been able to procure stock around 35 million,” said Ramathuba.
