A 27-year-old male from Jane Furse who furnished false documents to buy a car at Burgersfort dealership is arrested

Limpopo – A 27-year-old man tried his luck and succeeded to purchase a vehicle at one of the vehicle dealerships located in Burgersfort, the purchase was made on the 12th of April 2019.

The man was arrested for allegedly using fake documents to secure a vehicle loan, he just made his appearance in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, the 7th of January 2020.

The arrest was made by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) – the Hawks following the disclosure that the man bought a car using fake documentation.

The transaction that took place on the 12th of April 2019 include a Toyota Avanza to the value of R414 000.

The Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke said during the attempt to secure vehicle loan at the vehicle finance, the man was successfully approved by the finance company as he received the vehicle.

“The bank only became suspecious when he failed to pay his first installment and investigated. It was later discovered that the documents that he had sumbmitted when he applied for the loan were not his and the matter was referred to the Hawks for further handling,” said Maluleke.

The Hawks successfully traced the accused, and he was then arrested whilst he was at his home in Jane Furse, it was on the 6th of January 2021. The fraudulently purchased “vehicle was also recovered.”

The accused is in police custody, awaiting his re-appearing in court on the 13th January for formal bail application.
