Police officers find a concealed bakkie in a truckload on its way to Mozambuque

A stolen bakkie was found hidden underneath truckload at the Lebombo border post crossing to Mozambique by Mpumalanga police.

The bakkie was hidden with traditional brooms which got the police astonished. The bakkie is said to have been stolen at a garage in Sandon, Johannesburg.

The incident was captured on video yesterday as a video thereof went viral as the truck was stopped prior cross the border in Nkomazi at the Lebombo border gate into Mozambique.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli said police office are on the lookout for the truck driver as he fled the scene. The bakkie was reported stolen last month.

“We have launched a manhaunt for a suspect following the recovery of a stolen bakkie at the Lebombo of entry,” said Mdhluli.

“The police at border were busy with their duties when they noticed suspecious white 1 tonner truck with Mozambican registration plate number fully loaded with traditional brooms,” Mdhluli added.

The police spokesperson went ahead to say, the police at the border became concerned and the driver wasn’t available as they information came forth that he went to SARS offices as it’s compulsory for goods to be declared before leaving (exporting) and when coming (importing) into the borders of the Republic South Africa. And when they went to check him, he wasn’t there.

Mdhluli urged the public not to hold any information that might help with the investigation.
