This role has become available for an Agriculture / Horticulture graduate in our Quality Laboratory in Kempton Park. The purpose of this role is to assist the Laboratory Supervisor / Seed Analyst during the determination of seed quality by means of analyzing samples with regard to defect determination, purity, germination of seed lots delivered and presented.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sampling of Seed lots
- Defect determination on seed received
- Defect determination and purity on seed presented
- Planting of seed samples
- Evaluation of seedlings
- Laboratory maintenance
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Biology and Maths
- BSc / BTech / BCom Degree or Diploma in Botany or similar
Ideal: Training to comply with DALRRD’s OSTL registration
Seed Science Course Exams in practical seed analysis at OSTL Sampling course (in-house) Exams in practical seed analysis at OSTL (Agronomic, horticultural Seed sampling theoretical training at SANSOR Computer literate, Excel and MS word
