The Learning Technology Intern is primarily responsible for building Valenture Institute’s courses on the Learning Management System (Canvas) as conceptualised by the Learning Design Team. This is a data capturing role, and requires a strong attention to detail. Successful completion of this internship may result in a permanent role as a Learning Technology Administrator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Uploading of course content ahead of presentation, following strict design specifications and adhering to deadlines
- Formatting and styling course content according to Valenture templates and guidelines
- Applying the correct settings to groups, restrictions, prerequisites, deadlines, peer review and other specifications based on set criteria
- Performing quality assurance on peers’ work
- Implementing changes to content during the live presentation of courses according to a prioritisation backlog
- Scheduling, setup and testing of live webinar sessions between instructors and students
- Supporting in the technical implementation of any third-party technologies
Team Responsibilities:
Valenture Institute’s Learning Technology Team is responsible for owning the implementation and management of all learning technology systems and tools in order to achieve maximum efficiency and high-quality user experiences. The Learning Technology Team is responsible for working closely with the different business stakeholders to effectively support Valenture Institute’s pedagogy, and to ensure that the various users of Valenture’s Learning Technology are adequately supported through appropriate onboarding, training and standards.
Requirements:
- Must have their own computer and stable internet connection to use for the duration of the internship.
Personal Skills and Attributes:
- Strong understanding of business processes and systems
- Attention to detail
- An affinity for working with technology and a playfulness in approaching new technologies
- Basic yet growing understanding of HTML and CSS
- The ability to work from standard and compliance benchmarks
- Experience working on Canvas is a definite plus, but not a requirement
- Calendar, Drive and Office suites
