The University of KwaZulu-Natal, in partnership with the Department of Higher Education and Training, seeks to provide unemployed university graduates, employment and on the job training as part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) to mitigate the devastating economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who are we looking for?
If you are between the ages of 18 and 35, currently unemployed, not studying full time, nor receiving any form of a government grant (including NSFAS) you are eligible and encouraged to apply. In addition, you must have;-
- completed your qualification (Higher Certificate, Diploma or Degree)
- an excellent ability to work with people and within groups
- good communication skills, be a good listener; and
- an interest in serving the university community.
What are the internship disciplines?
All successful candidates will be placed on graduate Internships for six months, from 1 November 2022 to 31 April 2023, for the following available opportunities:
Public Relations x 1

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Media and Cultural Studies
Accounting x 1
Reference Number: F 01-2022
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree Commerce in Accounting
Student Academic Administration x 2
Reference Number: SAA02-2022
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Administration
- Bachelor Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science
Student Residence Affairs Finance x 1
Reference Number: SS06/2022
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (grade 12) and a 3-Year Accounting qualification with Accounting or Cost & Management Accounting as a major subject; AND
- Knowledge of working with MS Excel Intermediate level
Student Residence Affairs Assets Control & Building Maintenance x 1
Reference Number: SS07/2022
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (grade 12) and a 3-year qualification related to the Built Environment for example – Facilities Management or Built Environment or Civil Engineering
Student Residence Affairs General Administration x 1
