Job Description
In Finance, we work hand-in-hand with leaders across the company to ensure smooth, disciplined execution of strategic business objectives. In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your analytical acumen to drive insights for the Rides business and to help Uber prioritize initiatives and reach conclusions. As part of the summer program, your result will be a business recommendation to the Strategic Finance Leadership team.
What You’ll Do
- Engage with accounting to provide input on management reporting needs and better understand our actuals
- Build out Google Slide decks or Google Sheets plans that clearly detail end-to-end states
- Draft weekly meeting decks, meetings agendas, and status updates targeted to different audiences (e.g. leadership SteerCo)
- Follow up with partners to complete tasks, reaching out if there are any at risk/overdue actions
- Work cross-functionally across the organization to develop financial forecasts and operational goals
- Build intricate financial models from scratch, improve existing models, and break sophisticated models down into component parts
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a BS/BA or MS/MA program in Data Science or Accounting
- Working rights in South Africa (No sponsorship available)
- Knowledge of SQL and statistical software packages – specific case stade to be provided during the interview process
- Proficiency with Excel and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A track record of sophisticated problem solving, attention to detail and ability to deliver
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and Management reporting
- Prior analytical internship experience in the technology industry, including FP&A, investment banking, management consulting or private equity
- Understanding of enterprise-level financial planning systems
- Experience at mobility, food delivery or technology companies
- Ability to structure effective presentations
- Attention to detail and ability to implement in a fast paced environment
- Self-starter – you take initiative, set goals, and meet them
- Involvement in extracurricular groups, activities, or internship opportunities
