Samancor invites unemployed graduates to apply for Graduate In Training (GIT) Industrial Relations / Internship Programme 2022.

To grow the capacity within the Industrial Relations team and for the incumbent to gain relevant experience under the guidance of a skilled mentor
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the IR function at Samancor Chrome Corporate Office
- Attend disciplinary hearings
- Assist to ensure consistency and compliance by all parties to the Disciplinary Policy and Legislation at disciplinary/grievance hearings
- Keep appropriate records of proceedings and outcomes of disciplinary/grievance hearings
- Attend the resolution of employee grievances
- Assist with operational IR issues
- Assist with first line IR related concerns
- Participate in monitoring of IR climate at at various business units
- Record and compile monthly disciplinary and litigation statistic reports
- Assist with the preparation of cases referred for litigation
- Attend CCMA when necessary representing the company
- Identify IR trends across business units
- Track outstanding union issues
- Assist with compiling communiques pertaining to IR issues
- Assist with compiling letters to unions regarding IR issues
- Assist line supervision with counselling sessions
- Any ad hoc IR related tasks
Workplace Competencies:
Language Skills
- Fully proficient in English (reading, writing & speak)
Knowledge
- IR Legislation
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (Act 75 of 1997)
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995)
- Demonstrate understanding of Dispute Resolution Legislation and Procedures
Computer Skills
- Microsoft Office programs
Requirements:
- Recently completed studies in relevant tertiary education in the last 12 months
- HR / Legal / Labour Law / IR Degree or National Diploma
- Valid Code EB driver’s license
- No prior work experience in field of study required
