The above temporary position has become available in our Research Department. This role will primarily focus on assisting with routine laboratory tasks in the Pathology Laboratory
Responsibilities:
- Planting and maintaining plants destined for screening trials.
- Collect and test plant/seed samples for pathogens.
- Seed sample preparation for testing.
- Media preparation.
- Culture maintenance and inoculum production.
- Inoculation and disease evaluation of various types of pathogens on a variety of plants.
- Take inventory and order laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Conduct general housekeeping chores on a daily basis.
- Wash/sanitize equipment used.
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Microbiology
- Basic understanding of Plant Pathology test procedures
- Computer skills (MS word, Excel, Internet, E-Mail, Outlook)
- Well-developed understanding of laboratory processes and equipment
