The Engineering Intern will be working under the guidance of a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer and will assist in all project and business development related matters. There is potential for on-site work early on and a strong focus on Project Management activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing technical support to senior staff members in their work on large-scale projects
- Attending all project meetings with the relevant client/professional team/contractor and follow-up requirements for subsequent action
- Frequent engagement with professional team and contractor to obtain status updates, required documentation, drawings or to confirm instructions
- Assist with the preparation of monthly reports, minutes, documentation and filing as required
- Assist with and guide the preparation, by monitoring staff, of all input to technical reports on construction performance, systems and any other special reports.
- Project governance, support and administration
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have;-
- MSc/BEng/BSc/BTech Civil Engineering preferable but other Engineering will be considered
- Experience in the built environment will be an advantage
- Very strong attention to detail
- Basic understanding of MS Office, specifically MS Word and MS Excel
- Clear and logical written and verbal communication
- Leadership and project management skills
- Strong organizational, time and planning skills
- Must be able to manage several tasks simultaneously, and prioritize as necessary
Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail across all aspects of work and documentation
- Be self-driven, ethical, assertive, and delivery oriented.
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Willingness to work on site and travel as required
