The Position Reports to: Manager – Internal Audit

Duration: 24 months

Salary: R13 000,00 monthly stipend

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa (Head Office)

Closing Date: 17 August 2021

Overall Job Purpose:  To conduct audit reviews, ensuring the provision independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve CGS’s operations by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of enterprise risk management, internal controls, and corporate governance processes at the CGS.

Key Responsibilities for Geoscience: International Audit Internships 2021

  • Assist in conducting audit assignments as per the audit plan.
  • Assist in planning audit assignments per audit methodology.
  • Prepare working papers as per audit file.
  • Assist in documenting information and transaction flow.
  • Execute audit procedures according to approved audit programme and audit approach.
  • Gather adequate, competent, relevant, and useful audit evidence.
  • Prepare draft findings for review.
  • Ensure review notes are addressed.
  • Assist in following up on audits recommendations within agreed timelines.
  • Assist in conducting ad hoc assignments/special investigations requested by management.
  • Assist other team members when they need help.
  • Perform any other duties within the scope of internal audit.
  • Assist in the administration of the internal audit function.
  • Build a relationship with external auditors and other assurance providers.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the clients and keep them informed on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain effective relationships with both line managers and employees.
  • Execute all audit assignments/ work following the IIA standards.
  • Ensure audits are conducted following IIA standards and code of ethics.
  • Prepare clear and concise findings for audit performed.
  • Execute the project within allocated timeframes.
  • Execute in line with approved audit procedures
  • Prepare the audit file per audit project.
  • Compile and submit Personal Development Plan.
  • Participate in Continuous Professional Development initiatives/interventions to keep up with new technologies, standards, laws, and regulations.

  • Keep a master library of the CGS policies and procedures up to date for use by the office.
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as required by the Internal Audit team.
  • May be required to work long hours.

Discretion

  • Sensitivity to confidential information is non-negotiable.
  • Security screening of incumbents might be undertaken.

Knowledge

  • International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
  • Code of Ethics for Internal Auditors

Educational Qualification

  • National Diploma in Internal Auditing (NQF level 6)
  • BTech or Bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing will be an added advantage
