Job Title: Internship: Environmental Officer
Job Type: Graduate Internship
Work Hours: 07:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday
Location: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa
Closing Date: 14 July 2023
Envirocover (Pty) Ltd focuses on various sectors within the environmental context, ranging from professional Feasibility studies, Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental management documentation and system, compliance and monitoring, waste management services and communications. We are comprised of scientists and engineers with a broad range of expertise and experience in their respective fields. EnviroCover offers environment assessment, permitting, site compliance solutions, waste management strategy, environmental audits to assess your environmental credentials to ensure that national and international environmental regulations are being met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental management systems to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in conducting environmental assessments and audits, including air and water quality monitoring, waste management, and soil contamination assessments.
- Assist in developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures, including waste management plans, energy conservation plans, and pollution prevention programs.
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on environmental performance, including tracking energy and water usage, waste reduction efforts and other environmental metrics.
- Assist in investigating and addressing environmental complaints, violations, and incidents.
- Assist in providing guidance and support for environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist in managing and monitoring major projects’ environmental impacts and supporting project managers.
- Assist in participating in emergency response activities, such as spills and other environmental incidents.
- Assist in communicating regularly with management and other stakeholders, providing environmental performance and compliance updates.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science
Skills:
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and laws
- Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong communication skills
