We’re hiring for an Intern as Field Sciences and Regulatory Assistant

As Field Sciences Assistant you will be responsible for assisting the Research Scientists and Data Analyst with field and to a limited extent, lab trial execution, data collection and monitoring of trial success and progress. You will be involved in administrative duties, sample handling and storage and general trial and regulatory requirement activities.

You Will Be Part of Growing Team

The CPD&D FS function is a research and development department within Corteva Agriscience, dedicated to field science studies for the testing and development of new crop protection solutions for the agricultural industry. You will be part of the team that will be evaluation and executing the trials and will work firsthand with the new solutions being developed for registration and scoping purposes.



Responsibilities:

  • Chemical or biological sample handling and decanting.
  • Trial data collection, data capturing, systems input and updates.
  • Accompany Research Scientists on off-site field visits (sleep out as needed)
  • Work across different research field in Crop Protection, Biologicals and Biostimulants.
  • Getting a grasp of the regulatory requirements for product development and registration.
  • General administrative and regulatory duties.

Key Stakeholders and Interactions:

You will work with research scientists in the office, field and lab daily and get great exposure to research and development activities as well as regulatory and other commercial activities as part of a cross-functional collaborative team in South Africa

Location:

You will be located in Mbombela (Nelspruit) and will be travelling to Centurion, Gauteng as needed on an ad hoc basis.



Qualifications:

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need

  • BAgric or BSc in Agriculture (Soil sciences, Plant sciences, Horticulture, Plant Physiology, Agronomy or a combination of these relevant fields). Proven experience in field trials advantageous.
  • Driver’s license with driving experience is a critical requirement.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (especially Power point and Excel).
  • Administrative skills – attention to detail, submitting of timely reports and weekly schedule of activities, perform tasks and fulfill commitments with deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal relationships with clear communication and ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and a commitment to excellence in delivering required results.
  • Knowledge of the methodology for conducting field trials and collection of data and knowledge of agricultural legislation in South Africa is beneficial.
  • Language: Fluent writing, reading and speaking in English.
