As a Graduate Engineer specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and be exposed to various facets of engineering within the BESS field. You will work closely with experienced engineers across different disciplines, supporting them in their roles and projects, while receiving training and mentorship to develop your skills. Your technical knowledge, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn will contribute to the successful deployment and operation of BESS systems, supporting South Africa’s transition to clean and sustainable energy solutions.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Support experienced engineers across different roles, including Electrical Engineering, Project Engineering, Commissioning Engineering, and Service Engineering, in their day-to-day activities and project deliverables.
  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of BESS components and systems, under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Participate in field activities, such as site visits and installations, to gain practical knowledge and understanding of BESS systems in real-world settings.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team in conducting technical analyses, feasibility studies, and performance evaluations of BESS projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, technical reports, and proposals.
  • Support engineers in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to BESS components, systems, and equipment, utilizing diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices within the organization.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in BESS systems, participating in training programs and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist in the coordination and communication with internal teams, external stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure effective project execution and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations, following safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to support research and development initiatives, exploring innovative solutions and technologies in the BESS field.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the engineering team or management.



Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in;-
    • Electrical Engineering,
    • Mechanical Engineering,
    • Or a related field.
    • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy, energy storage, and battery technologies, with a desire to contribute to the clean energy transition.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, concepts, and methodologies, with a focus on electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Enthusiasm for learning, self-motivation, and a proactive approach to acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software, computer-aided design (CAD) tools, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • A positive attitude, adaptability, and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
