The Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) are inviting students to apply for bursary funding for the 2022 academic year. The bursary will be awarded to 200 students, from previously disadvantaged and impoverished backgrounds, as well as students with disabilities.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the Transport sector, specifically these critical and scarce skills fields:
- Aeronautical Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree)
- Accounting (BCom)
- ATPL Subjects
- ATPL (Hour Building)
- Bachelor of Honours Degree / Postgraduate Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree
- Business Administration (Bachelor’s Degree / B Tech/ National Diploma/ Advanced Diploma)
- Commercial Divers (Class II/ III/ IV)
- Commercial Pilot License
- Electrical Engineering (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / N4-N6)
- Electronic Engineering (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / N4-N6)
- Financial Management (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Information and Communication Technology (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Instructor’s Rating
- Instrument Rating
- Law (B Degree)
- Logistics Management (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Masters Degree in Research topics related to the transport sector
- Marine Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree)
- Maritime Law (Bachelor’s Degree)
- Maritime Studies (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Mechanical Engineering (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / N4-N6)
- Nautical Studies (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma/ Advanced Diploma)
- Operations Management (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Occupational Health and Safety (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- PhD Doctoral Degree in Research topics related to the transport sector
- Risk Management (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Road Transport Management (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Supply Chain Management (including Warehouse, Storage and Distribution) (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Transport Economics (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
- Transportation Management (B Degree / B Tech / National Diploma / Advanced Diploma)
The bursary will provide coverage for the following expenses
- Tuition fees,
- Prescribed textbooks,
- Transport,
- Meals, and
- Accommodation on campus or off campus.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted – should you not receive any feedback by 30 January 2022 at the latest, please regard your application unsuccessful.
Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be under 35 years old
- You must be currently unemployed
- You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- You must be studying or intend on studying full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
- You must be studying or registered to study at an accredited tertiary institute (including TVET Colleges, Public accredited University, Private accredited University, Accredited Diving Schools and Accredited Flying School)
- You must have a valid Private Pilot License (PPL), if applying for Commercial Pilot Training
- You must have a valid Commercial Pilot License, if applying for Instructor’s or Instrument Rating
- You must have a valid Commercial Pilot License, Instructor’s and Instrument rating, if applying for ATPL
- You must be at least 18 years old and be able to swim, if applying for Commercial Diving
- You must have a total household income of NO MORE than R350 000 per annum
- You must NOT be currently receiving funding from another TETA programme or another sponsor
- You must be from a previously disadvantaged background
- You must have achieved a minimumpass mark of 50% for your most recent studies
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
