CALL TO APPLY FOR THE COUNCIL FOR GEOSCIENCE FULL-TIME BURSARY
The Council for Geoscience (CGS) herewith invites university students and Grade 12 learners to apply for a full-time CGS bursary for the 2022 academic year. The objective of the CGS bursary is to create, enhance and support expertise in the geosciences and related technical fields.
Eligibility:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Not employed and available for vacation work during studies and work back upon completion of studies, when required.
- Planning to enroll full-time at a South African institution of higher learning for the 2022 academic year.
- Currently enrolled for Grade 12 with both Mathematics and Physical Science as key subjects.
- Have completed Grade 12 with an achievement of Level 6 or higher in both Mathematics and Physical Science.
- Be a registered full-time student at a South African institution of higher learning.
- For students currently at an institution of higher learning, must have passed all the courses for which they have registered for the study period already completed.
The CGS awards full-time bursaries in the following fields of study:
- Engineering Geology
- Geophysics
- Hydrogeology (focus on groundwater modeling)
- Geochemistry
- Economic Geology
- Geo-informatics
- Remote sensing
- Computational Geosciences
- Mineral Economics
- Mining seismology
- Science Communication
NB: Only research topics defined by the CGS will be funded.
The bursary covers:
- Registration and tuition fees
- Accommodation and Meals
- Prescribed Books
- Excursions/research
- Once off laptop allowance for first-time bursars.
