The CSIR is offering Internship Opportunities to unemployed graduates. The CSIR internship programme provides opportunities to graduates to gain practical experience which augments their theoretical studies under the guidance of more experienced professionals.
The following Internship opportunities are open for applications:
Internship: Financial Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture projects and contracts in People Soft in accordance with CSIR policies and procedures, ensure completeness of supporting documentation;
- Generate invoices to customers upon receipt of an approved request and make follow-ups on all outstanding debtor accounts;
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports (e.g. timesheet reports);
- Provide financial administrative support to line staff and management accountants;
- Process financial transactions under guidance and supervision to ensure the transactions are recorded accurately, in compliance with policies, processes, guidelines and legislation;
- Perform financial account reconciliations to identify discrepancies or items to be actioned and ensure that all transactions are recorded in the correct accounting period;
- Keep record of financial documents, e.g. journals and invoices, for future reference and audit purposes;
- Follow up on the status of open orders and ensure accuracy for financial reporting and year-end accruals;
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes to enable financial departments to meet deadlines and process all financial transactions before final closure.
Qualifications: A 3-year Diploma or Degree in;-
- Accounting
- Finance
Internship: Procurement
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and obtain quotations;
- Create, issue and expedite orders;
- Liaise with internal and external clients/customers;
- Provide administrative support and handle general procurement enquiries;
- Assist with information gathering for reports and auditing purposes;
- Ensure compliance to policies and procedures, rules and regulations, legislative objectives and other related frameworks;
- Perform any other supply chain management tasks as and when mandated.
Qualifications:
- A 3-year Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management
Internship: Geosciences
Qualifications: Honours Degree in;-
- Geology
- Geophysics
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to function under pressure and manage stress;
- Good analytical and problem solving skills;
- Good time management and planning skills;
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
- Attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills;
- Sound work ethic and ability to work in large teams is essential.
