The University of the Free State’s Vice-Rector Office in the Academic Centre for Teaching and Learning under Student Learning and Success is looking for recent graduates who can perform the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a comprehensive database containing the details of all tutors.
- Assist with scheduling venues and online links for tutorial and training sessions. Address any challenges related to venues and online tutorials.
- Aid tutors in specific modules with planning and implementing session plans, providing them with support.
- Record and capture attendance data using the Oracle system for reporting and research purposes.
- Assist Teaching and Learning Coordinators (TLCs) in offering detailed, constructive feedback to tutors during observation sessions.
- Assist in processing ad-hoc claims for tutor payments.
- Collaborate with tutors to develop an evaluation schedule for each semester.
- Distribute, collect, scan, and capture evaluation forms for reporting purposes.
- Assist with portfolio assessments and session plan submissions on Blackboard, a learning management system.
- Assist the programme with carrying out research initiatives.
Inherent Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree on NQF level 7
Recommendations:
- Proven computer skills, including proficiency in software like MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills, as collaboration with others is essential.
- Strong organizational skills for event and process management, with the ability to work independently.
- Capacity to handle tasks effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic qualitative research skills, suggesting that some research activities may be involved in the role.
- Experience in tutoring or facilitating academic activities in higher education, indicating familiarity with the academic context.
