Ulwazi Control Systems currently has an opening for an Automation Engineer Trainee.
The position is for a graduate/junior engineer with PLC programming experience, and includes work in a multitude of industries, such as automotive, and food and beverage.
The candidate will be expected to assist at various stages of a project’s life cycle, including writing PLC software, commissioning, documentation, as well as perform on-site support for an extended duration of time.
Some internal training will be provided, as well as external related training courses, depending on the candidates needs at the time.
Please note: This position is a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension/move to full-time based on the candidate’s performance.
Responsibilities:
- Writing of PLC software based on provided functional descriptions.
- Design of HMI’s.
- On-site commissioning of PLC software.
- On-site support of production lines.
- Fault finding of systems and attending to break-downs.
- Working as part of a team with electrical and mechanical divisions.
Requirements:
- B.Eng/BTech/Diploma or equivalent in;-
- Mechatronics or
- Electrical Engineering.
- Some experience with Siemens PLC’s and supporting hardware and software.
- Siemens certification is a bonus.
- Good knowledge about industrial technology, including field I/O, industrial hardware devices, VSD’s, SCADA, HMI’s, etc.
- Very computer literate.
- Ability to work weekends when required.
- Ability to work shifts and extended hours when necessary.
- Own transport.
