Purpose of the Role:
As an Industrial Automation Technical Intern, you will have exposure to programming, panel wiring, and assembly. Your primary function will be to support our Field Application Engineers where needed. This will give you a broad scope of exposure to our different product solution portfolios, including Vision, Motion and Robotization. You will also need to be ready to help with telephonic/email customer technical questions. You will have access to Omron Technical and in-house expertise to support your growth and self-learning. You will also be able to do site visits with the relevant field application engineer (FAE). You may also need to help the Regional Marketing Manager with setting up of exhibition and proof of concept equipment.
Scope:
- Report directly to the appointed intern mentor.
- Implement knowledge acquired at tertiary institutions & place a strong emphasis on gaining practical skills and self-learning in all aspects tasked.
Responsibilities:
- Daily support to relevant Field application engineers or engineers assigned to them. The scope can entail but is not limited to PLC, Motion Control, Robotization, Visualization and general in-panel scope work.
- Assist in the commission of automation, vision or robotic solutions for end customers.
- Support to Projects Co-ordinator when requested.
- Actively work on improvement projects, proof of concept projects etc.
- Prepare relevant technical documentation as requested.
- Carry out general admin tasks assigned.
- Working jointly with a team of highly experienced engineers.
- Design, write, analyse, and debug code when requested.
- Support the FAE team to gather, refine, and document requirements for work undertaken.
- You will be encouraged to provide suggestions and think outside the box in achieving higher standards and improved work efficiencies with the customer’s best solution always in mind.
- Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting.
- Engages various users and technical staff to gather input data for documentation.
- Support the development and production of training materials.
- Assist company MCC marketing person with relevant marketing endeavours.
- Complete reporting requested timeously and of a good standard.
- Support business process Improvement initiatives
- Data/Metrics collection and analysis.
Required Education and Qualifications:
- Mechatronics Degree, Diploma or equivalent, completed recently, or final year student.
- Any other technical qualification or practical training, i.e., Robotics, Ai, SCADA, Panel wiring etc., would be advantageous.
Required Skills:
- Must be an effective communicator with good interpersonal people skills and self-starter ability.
- A Love for learning with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Competent in Communication, Problem-Solving and Collaboration
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical motion concepts.
- Knowledge and some hands-on capability about PLC programming. Some HMI & variable speed drive programming will be advantageous.
- Good command of office packages such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure situations when required.
- English language proficiency
- Strong drive for results.
