Mount Ayliff quarrel leave 7 killed and 6 seriously injured

Whilst South Africa is celebrating, for the first time, Christmas trickling with an outbreak, Eastern Cape’s small town, Mount Ayliff engage in a noisy fight interval two groups of men, leaving 7 people killed and 6 seriously injured.

According to News24, the clash between two groups of men happened on Friday around 05:00 at the Mpeni locality of Mount Ayliff.

The fight was between a group of men from Mpeni village and the other group from Nokhatsheli village.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo told the media that seven men were killed during the quarrel.

And she added that, “a further six men from both sides have been hospitalised after sustaining serious injuries during the clash.”

The mobilisation of a 72-hour activation plan were ordered by the acting national police commissioner, Lieutenant General Sindile Mfazi.

The activation plan comprehends resources from Detective Services, Crime Intelligence, and Crime Intelligence.

Mfazi called upon the community where the incident occurred, and of the neighbouring villages to exercise maximum restraint and to aid the police with any information useful to the investigations as no arrest have been made thus far.

“I am appealing to the community within the Mount Ayliff and surrounding areas to exercise maximum restraint and to assist police in their investigations to bring those responsible for these attacks to book,” said Mfazi.
