We are currently seeking a talented HR Intern to work closely with our other specialists to provide administrative support to the HR Business Partner for the HR Shared Services team for both our Johannesburg and Durban Offices.
SMEC South Africa is looking to employ a student to support and assist the HR Business Partner with day to day activities.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for people, work well under pressure and have the ability to deliver excellent service in a deadline oriented environment.
We require a candidate that is still studying towards an HR Degree/Diploma and in need of in-service training or experiential learning.
The successful applicant will enter into a 3 month fixed term contract with the company and will receive a stipend.
Reports To:
HR Business Partner or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.
Key Responsibilities:
With the supervision of the HR Business Partner, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Pre-screening CV’s from prospective candidates
- Scheduling and confirming interviews with shortlisted candidates
- Preparing documentation for all interviews ie. printing interview cover sheets, CV, supporting documentation and job description
- Initiating background checks on successful candidates
- Initiating requests for contracts of employment and pro forma payslips
- Filing HR documents accordingly
- Updating and maintaining employee records and files
- Coordinating on-boarding of all new hires
- Responding to staff inquiries regarding HR policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related matters
- Preparing regional HR-related reports
- Office Administration and General HR administration support which includes, but is not limited to recruitment, training, health & safety, on-boarding, employee wellness and engagement, benefit administration, induction, exit administration, performance management, queries and payroll administration
- Any other ad-hoc tasks which may be required by the HR Business Partner from time to time
Recommended Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Studying toward a degree or a diploma in human resource management or related field
- Effective communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
